Washington DC Photo Workshop - Full Day -- Bring your camera and join us for a half-day or day-long safari to Washington's most photogenic sites, accompanied by professional architectural photographer, E. David Luria, who will provide you with tips on composition and lighting. Seeing the sights through the viewfinder of your camera, you will be delighted by your own postcard-quality photographs of the nation's capital!

This workshop uses the beautiful landmarks of the nation's capital to provide instruction in landmark and travel photography. If you love taking pictures and want to learn how to take BETTER pictures, this full day photo safari is for you!

These workshops teach participants the basics of how to take well-composed photos of people, famous buildings, monuments and memorials - travel photography skills you can use anywhere in the world!

Beginning at the Renwick Gallery, our photo safari includes such architecturally diverse sites as the Washington Monument, Constitution Hall, the National Sculpture Garden, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam and Korean War Memorials, the Capitol Building, Union Station, National Postal Museum, mural art in Adams-Morgan, and the Iwo Jima Memorial

Full-Day Washington DC Photo Worksop Itinerary

9:35 am - Meet in front of The Renwick Gallery, 17th St. and Pennsylvania Ave NW. (Metro Stops: Farragut North, Farragut West). Orientation

10:00 am - Photo shoots: Renwick Gallery, Lafayette Park, White House, Eisenhower Executive Office Building, Corcoran Gallery, American Red Cross buildings

11:00 am - Transportation to Einstein Memorial, 22nd St and Constitution Ave NW. Photo shoots: Einstein Memorial, Vietnam Womens Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Reflecting Pool, Lincoln Memorial

12:15 pm - Transportation to US Capitol area, First St and Independence Ave SW. Photo shoot: US Capitol

12:30 pm - Transportation to Union Station. Photo shoot: National Postal Museum, Union Station (exterior and interior)

1:00 pm - Lunch at Union Station (cost not included in safari tuition) Photo shoots: Thurgood Marshall Judiciary Building, National Japanese-American Memorial

2:00 pm - Transportation to Adams-Morgan district. Photo shoot: Adams-Morgan storefronts, restaurants

3:00 pm - Transportation to National Cathedral, Wisc Ave and Woodley St NW Photo shoot: National Cathedral, exterior and interior

4:00 pm - Transportation to Iwo Jima Memorial, Rosslyn. Photo shoot: Iwo Jima Marine Memorial, Netherlands Carillon, view of DC monuments, Final question and answer session

4:45 pm - Transportation to Rosslyn Metro station.

Your Expert Instructor and Guide: E. David Luria

E. David Luria is a professional commercial photographer specializing in architecture and landmarks. Trained in Paris by a protege of the famous French photographer Henri Cartier Bresson, he is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers, and his images of Washington DC have appeared in over 100 publications, on 30 magazine covers, and on postcards and guidebooks sold throughout the area. A member of the Society of Photographic Education, he serves as a photo study tour instructor for the Smithsonian Resident Associates, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Hasselblad USA Inc., and the Kreeger Museum. He has trained over 10,000 people in travel photography techniques through his Washington Photo Safaris, as featured on the NBC "TODAY" Show, in the Washington Post, the Baltimore Sun, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Philadelphia Inquirer, USA Today, WHERE Magazine, on the Discovery Travel Channel, and on WTOP All-News Radio.

Skilled amateurs and visiting professional photographers will appreciate Mr. Luria's detailled knowledge of all the best shooting sites in the DC area.

What Should I Bring?

Adjustable cameras with wide-angle / telephoto lenses preferred, but any camera will do. Enough digital media or film for 100-150 images. Safaris are conducted rain or shine.
